support to Lake County Citizens:
Law Day 2016
Lawyers In The Classroom
Volunteers visit classrooms and lead 45 minute discussions regarding this years topic the Magna Carta, distributed in advance by LCBA. (April 25-April 29, 2016)
Ask-a-lawyer - Call In
Once a year, in conjunction with the Illinois State Bar Association, volunteers provide free legal advice to telephone callers (April 30,2016) Call (847) 244-3143 to speak with an attorney, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Ask-a-lawyer - Drop In Clinic
Once a year, bar association volunteers provide free legal advice to the public. (May 11, 2016) at the Lake County Bar Association, 300 Grand Avenue, STE A, Waukegan, 4:00-7:00 p.m.
High School Mock Trial programs held in the spring at the 19th Judicial Circuit Courthouse. Volunteers participate as judges. (February 2016)
Once a year (typically the Friday after Labor Day) volunteers assist members unload materials from their vehicles to be shredded
Volunteer Lawyers Program
The VLP is managed by Prairie State Legal Services. The areas of greatest need are Family (especially divorce in domestic violence cases), Chapter 7 bankruptcy for working clients, uncontested guardianships for disabled adults, and consumer law.
Volunteer attorneys provide general information about the foreclosure process and do not provide legal representation.
Volunteers assist pro se petitioners seeking guardianship of the person of a minor child.
Lawyer Referral Service
Attorneys participating in this service are pre-screened to participate in referrals to paying clients (not pro bono).
Twice a year (April & October) volunteers clean up a one-mile stretch of a Lake County roadway.

People's Law School
This program is offered free to the public in the spring. Volunteers are asked to present a 45 minute lecture. The entire series covers 6-10 substantive areas.
The LCBA is in the process of holding a Voter Registrar Commission. Volunteers will be eligible to register citizens to vote at LCBA events.
2016 Elliot Pinsel's Gift Drive
We have 80 ornaments that contain names of individuals and items they need/wish for this holiday season. (November 2016)
