From 1988-1992, David was a Lake County Public Defender where he was involved in every aspect of the Lake County court system. He quickly built a reputation for successful litigation and worked in all divisions of the Lake County Courts, including Felony Trial & Preliminary Hearing Division, Misdemeanor & Domestic Violence Division, DUI and Traffic Division. In 1993, David entered private practice with his father Harold, and brother Evan. The Winer name has been a presence in Lake County since 1961 where Harold Winer has been a fixture in the Lake County community. Often called the “Dean of Lake County,” Harold Winer was awarded , “The President’s Award” the most prestigious honorary by the Lake County Bar Association. It was this partnership that created one of the finest and most respected firms in Lake County. David Winer is very active in the local legal community as a past member the Editorial Board and Contributing Author of the legal publication, The Docket, past Chairman of the Juvenile Law Committee, current member of the Criminal Law and Traffic Law committees of the Lake County Bar Association and is the current chairman of the Lake County Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service. In addition, David has lectured other practicing attorneys about all types of Secretary of State Hearings for driver’s license permits and reinstatement has given legal related speeches to the Lake County Criminal Law Seminar, College of Lake County and on the radio. In addition David has authored numerous legal related articles.
