NOTICE OF VACANCIES
ASSOCIATE JUDGE - NINETEENTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT
Authorization pursuant to Illinois Supreme Court Rule 39 has been received by the Chief Judge of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit to post a notice of vacancies for associate judge. The vacancies are the result of the election of Associate Judges Elizabeth M. Rochford and Christopher M. Kennedy to the Supreme and Appellate Courts respectively. These vacancies were effective December 5, 2022. Applications are now being accepted for these vacancies which will be filled by vote of the Circuit Judges of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit.
Pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 39, any United States Citizen who is an attorney licensed to practice law in Illinois and a resident of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit, may apply by electronically filing a signed application with the Director of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts on the form prescribed and furnished by the Director. The instructions for submitting an application electronically are available on the Supreme Court's website: http://illlnoiscourts.gov
If unable to submit an application electronically, an applicant must submit two (2) signed originals of the prescribed application with the Director of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts at the address listed below:

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE APPLICATION WAS REVISED ON SEPTEMBER 17, 2019
AND ONLY APPLICATIONS ON THE REVISED FORM WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Whether electronically filed, mailed or hand delivered, all applications must be received in the Administrative Office within 30 days after the date of this Notice. If filed electronically, the deadline is 11 :59 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023. If mailed or hand delivered, the deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023. A form for application can be obtained from either the Chief Judge's Office, the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts, or from the Illinois Supreme Court website: http://illinoiscourts.gov and downloaded from the Judicial Vacancies link. Applications will not be accepted if submitted via facsimile.
The list of applicants will be submitted for polling to the Lake County Bar Association. Applicants will also be required to make themselves available for an interview and screening process with the Circuit Judges of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit. Applicants will be notified of the date, time and location of the interview and details of the screening process at the close of the application phase.

The Lake County Bar Association Judicial Selection and Retention Committee (JSRC) will invite applicants to participate in their evaluation process. The process will include a background investigation and personal interview. Additionally the JSRC conduct an electronic poll of LCBA members regarding all applicants,

In accordance with section 16.1 of the Rules and Procedures of the Judicial Selection and Retention Committee, interview dates and times are determined by lot. Interviews times are determined following the AOIC has certified the list of candidates.
